The Warmia and Mazury Region has big investment potential, especially in such sectors as wood, food and agriculture, and the nautical industry.
The above mentioned sectors - which dominate in the region - provide the investors with the access to not only well developed network of cooperants; there are many cluster initiatives in the region associating entrepreneurs from the windows and doors industry, furniture production, IT, renewable energy and beef producers. Moreover, the access to experienced and qualified workers is provided. Over 75 000 students and 16 academic institutions enable the development of innovative and creative branches of economy such as BPO and ICT.
Important assets of the region are also well prepared investment areas, presence of special economic zones, offering up to 70% exemption for the income tax and technology parks with high standard office spaces.
The biggest achievements in terms of business investments in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodship is the presence of foreign investors such as Michelin with its factory in Olsztyn, IKEA with production plants in Wielbark and Lubawa, City Bank Handlowy with a financial centre in Olsztyn, France Telecom with call centres in Olsztyn, Philips in Ketrzyn, Haye&Heinz Glas in Działdowo, Alstom Power Elbląg, Porta KMI Poland Ełk, Smithfield Food with plants in Ełk, Iława and Morliny.
