On September the 24th, 2014 during the IAA Commercial Vehicles 2014 exhibition in Hannover Solaris, Polish producers of buses introduced a new city model 'Urbino', which is available in both the 12-metre standard bus and 18-metre articulated versions.
The new Solaris Urbino is a completely new engineering design. Despite being lighter, it is more robust. There is a host of newly developed features that improve all characteristics of the bus, while reliable, tried and tested components of its predecessor have been maintained. In the new Solaris, many following new solutions have been implemented: redesigned stronger connections between vertical and horizontal steel profiles have been used. The flooring uses a combination of stainless steel sheets and plywood. The former is an integral part of the chassis and reinforces the body frame, while also providing strong protection against inclement weather. The body frame was also prepared for the placement of compressed air tanks at the front of the bus.
The new Solaris Urbino has been designed not just for the use of small and large Euro 6 diesel engines. Gas-fuelled engines, diesel-electric hybrids and electric drives have all been considered from the start. It will be also available as a trolleybus, the Trollino. The interior will be free of vibrations, while the bus is quieter than its predecessors. At a noise level of 74.8 dBA it outperforms all international standards (including the European limit of 80 dBA and the more stringent 77 dBA level in Germany).
New Urbino 12 and new Urbino 18 are now ready for order. If you are interested please visit the website http://www.solarisbus.com/sale/#goTo|sale_scene2 or contact the sales representative directly (phone number +31 76 8 000 000 or email firstname.lastname@example.org).
Solaris Bus & Coach is a family company founded and owned by Solange and Krzysztof Olszewski. The company is a major European producer of city, intercity and special-purpose buses as well as low-floor trams. Since the start of production in 1996, over 10 000 vehicles have already left the factory in Bolechowo near Poznań, Poland. The company is present in 28 countries.
The combination of the vision and experience of Solaris’ owners with the enthusiasm of a young team resulted in perfect conditions to achieve strong successes. Despite its young age, Solaris has become one of the trendsetting companies in its industry. For many years it has been the indisputable leader among the suppliers of city buses in Poland as well as one of the largest suppliers of buses in Germany, a very competetive and demanding market.
The Polish automotive industry is an expanding sector. Last year the production of cars and car accessories in Poland grew by 6 % and according to the forecast for this year this number will increase by 5 to 10 %. It is a good result compared to other EU automotive industries, which have faced sales shrinkage for six consecutive years.
